Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. is one of the world's largest and most diverse providers of professional technical services. With 2010 revenues of nearly $10 billion, we offer full-spectrum support to industrial, commercial, and government clients across multiple markets. Services include scientific and specialty consulting as well as all aspects of engineering and construction, and operations and maintenance.
With a long history in the Bay Area, Jacobs has worked on a multitude of projects for agencies such as the Port of Oakland, BART, San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency, Caltrans, Valley Transportation Authority and the Transbay Joint Powers Authority. Our notable projects include seismic retrofit design on the Golden Gate and Richmond-San Rafael Bridges, over 20 years of general engineering services for BART, Terminal 2 Curbside Expansion and Landside Improvements at Oakland International Airport and construction management of the SFMTA Third Street Light Rail Project.
Role in the Project
Jacobs is the lead for planning and design of the proposed 7th Street Improvements including Traffic Analysis and the Condition Assessment of Wharves 6 ½ and 7. Seventh Street provides access for cars and trucks into the Port of Oakland but the existing grade separation with the railroad tracks is not sufficient for the future expansion of rail and vehicle traffic. Jacobs will perform Alternatives Analysis of 7th Street improvements, an intersection with Maritime Street, enhanced traffic flows of on-site container trucks with normal traffic and a new grade separation with the proposed railroad layout.
Jacobs is also performing a condition assessment of Wharves 6 ½ and 7, which includes an above-water inspection of the structural elements, a subsequent structural capacity analysis of the wharves for future waterfront use, development of design and loading criteria and recommendations for repair and upgrades.
